WASHINGTON, February 23, 2006 – The American Petroleum Institute (API) today named Bob Greco to the post of Group Director, Industry Operations and Upstream. In this position, Greco will be responsible for managing oil and natural gas issues pertaining to exploration, production, marine and related industry operations. Greco will assume his new role at API effective March 1, 2006.
At the present time, Greco serves as API’s Director for Policy Analysis and manages a staff that integrates economic and environmental policy analysis and development. Prior to this position, he served as Director of Global Climate Programs at API and as Director of the Marine Transportation Segment. During his 16-year career at API, Greco has managed issues such as refining, the production of gasoline and jet fuels, and the implementation of the Clean Air Act.
"Bob’s knowledge of the oil and natural gas industry, coupled with his proven ability to manage issues, will serve the upstream sector very well," said Red Cavaney, president and chief executive officer of API. "Bob is a considerable talent and API is pleased to add him to its Executive Staff."
Before joining API, Greco was an environmental engineer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, with expertise in automotive emission control technologies. He has earned a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering at Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in biology at Colgate University.
The American Petroleum Institute is a national trade association representing 400 companies involved in all aspects of the petroleum and natural gas industry.
