WASHINGTON, August 10, 2010 — The American Petroleum Institute is saddened by the death of former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, according to a statement by API President and CEO Jack Gerard:
“We are saddened today by the news that former Senator Ted Stevens has died in a plane crash. Ted Stevens loved Alaska and cared deeply about his constituents. He understood the importance of the oil and natural gas industry, and he worked tirelessly to help secure a stronger energy future for Alaskans and all Americans. We express our condolences to his loved ones.”
