WASHINGTON, October 6, 2011 - The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) – a not-for-profit organization that establishes requirements for U.S. standards setting organizations to enhance the global competitiveness of U.S. businesses – has reaccredited the American Petroleum Institute's standards program after an audit last year and revisions to program procedures.

WASHINGTON, September 27, 2011 – API asked the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for additional time to make comments on EPA's proposed rules for emissions from the production of oil and natural gas. API also asked for the EPA to delay its proposed rule for refinery emissions to allow adequate time for EPA to review emissions data submitted by industrial facilities this month.

WASHINGTON, September 23, 2011 – Total petroleum deliveries (a measure of demand) rose slightly in August (to 19.7 million barrels a day) compared with August a year ago, with demand for gasoline and distillates moving in opposite directions. Gasoline demand fell by 1.3 percent to a 10-year low for the month while distillate demand rose by 10.8 percent. On a year-to-date basis, gasoline demand was two percent lower than in 2010.
