WASHINGTON, September 27, 2011 – API asked the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for additional time to make comments on EPA's proposed rules for emissions from the production of oil and natural gas. API also asked for the EPA to delay its proposed rule for refinery emissions to allow adequate time for EPA to review emissions data submitted by industrial facilities this month.

WASHINGTON,September 23, 2011 – API welcomed the bipartisan U.S. House of Representatives' vote to require EPA to review and analyze the economic impact of its upcoming "Tier 3" regulations for gasoline.

WASHINGTON, September 23, 2011 – Total petroleum deliveries (a measure of demand) rose slightly in August (to 19.7 million barrels a day) compared with August a year ago, with demand for gasoline and distillates moving in opposite directions. Gasoline demand fell by 1.3 percent to a 10-year low for the month while distillate demand rose by 10.8 percent. On a year-to-date basis, gasoline demand was two percent lower than in 2010.

API also urged the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to adopt the administration's position instead of a unilateral approach that could harm competitiveness.

WASHINGTON, September 20, 2011 – API commended EPA's approval of an air permit for the drilling vessel Noble Discoverer, which Shell plans to use in exploration drilling next year in the Chukchi Sea off northwestern Alaska.
