MONTERREY, Mexico – February 21, 2017 – The American Petroleum Institute‘s Global Industry Services (API GIS) department today led a workshop to raise awareness of API’s global safety and accreditation certification programs for oil and natural gas industry service companies and equipment manufacturers in the region.

“Safety is our industry’s core value that’s embedded in all of our operations from inception to decommissioning,” said API Vice President of Global Industry Services Lisa Salley. “API certifications and monograms are recognizable worldwide, serve as the gold standard throughout the industry and help ensure that workers throughout the industry return home safely each and every day. As new opportunities arise within this region, we look forward to working with industry stakeholders to advance this mission critical issue through our proven certification and accreditation programs.”

The mission of API GIS is to serve the industry by engaging industry experts in safety standards development and deploying services and programs to promote safety, quality, reliability and interchangeability across the global oil and natural gas industry. Today’s workshop is a result of the collaboration between API, the State of Nuevo Leon and ProMèxico.

API is the only national trade association representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy. API’s more than 625 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms. They provide most of the nation’s energy and are backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 30 million Americans.
