By now you may have seen our new ad, “Air Up Here,” highlighting the role natural gas has played in helping to lower U.S. carbon dioxide emissions to their lowest levels in nearly 25 years.
While the ad focuses on how the industry is helping reduce greenhouse gases in our air, you may not realize that every cut in the ad features consumer goods the industry makes possible or makes better. Take a look at the ad and see if you can identify all of the products – many of which you likely own – made from materials produced from natural gas and oil. Go ahead, we’ll wait.

College basketball’s big event tips off this week in arenas across the country, all leading up to the NCAA Championship game April 2 in San Antonio. Along the way, underdogs will show some bite and favorites will fall, busting brackets all across the country. Enjoy!
Through it all, one of the MVPs won’t be a star on the tournament’s top-seeded team or someone who hits a buzzer-beater that takes “Cinderella” deep into the Big Dance. The unsung MVP during the madness that is the NCAA tournament will be natural gas and oil.
Let’s look at a number of the roles petroleum plays in almost every aspect of this great game and event.

Our industry recognizes that being part of a community means working with neighbors to support the greater good, whether that is helping after a disaster, improving access to health, education and social activities or investments in other initiatives that strengthen the fabric of community life.
Oil and natural gas companies are committed to the communities where they operate – where our employees work, live, play and raise their families. Our workers and their families care greatly about the places they call home. This is why safety, protecting the environment and public health, and giving back to our communities are some of the industry’s top priorities.Natural Gas, Oil and Animal Orthotics: Making the Impossible Possible

Bogart the camel was born with carpel hyper-extensions, meaning his front legs won’t support the rest of his body. This rare and extreme condition would make it hard for Bogart to have a normal life. But Dr. Derrick Campana, an animal orthotist and founder of Animal Ortho Care in Sterling, Va., stepped in to create braces to get him on his feet – you know, all four of ‘em. Because of the size the braces needed to be, Campana turned to high-temperature thermoplastics for stability. The braces are made with polypropylene – a byproduct of natural gas and oil.

We continue to see the best of the American spirit – neighbors helping neighbors across Texas and Florida as recovery efforts continue after Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. When storms hit, there is a select group of people that works around the clock to keep the lights on or get them back running, or to respond to emergencies. There also are a select few who help fuel first responders and communities once recovery efforts begin.

The humanitarian effort underway after Hurricane Harvey is showing Americans at their best. Communities across Texas have been battered by storm, with record-setting floods damaging or destroying more than 300,000 homes in the southeast part of the state. In Houston, home to 2.3 million people, the challenges of recovery are proving to be quite unique.
As families in one of the nation’s biggest corporate hubs began the arduous process of rebuilding, many have been able to turn to their employers for assistance. Energy companies have set up stations for employees to pick up emergency supplies, they’ve sent work crews to rip out drywall from flooded homes, and they’ve even provided helicopters to deliver water to families when the city of Beaumont’s water service failed.
