Abundant U.S. energy, courtesy of hydraulic fracturing tapping shale oil and natural gas deposits, is attracting manufacturers from Europe and South America, Sean Hackbarth reports. This will translate into jobs and a “much more competitive U.S.”

“The increased stringency of the sulfur regulation in gasoline will add costs to families already struggling to pay at the pump for little environmental benefit. The Tier 2 regulations in place are stringent enough that the costs to Americans for additional EPA regulations will be high and the benefits will be minimal,” writes the Heritage Foundation’s Nicolas Loris.

A new report says hydraulic fracturing could create a half million new jobs in California by 2015 and perhaps 2.5 million by 2020 – as well as an influx of new state tax revenue. Energy development activity would help lower the state’s unemployment rate, now trending at 10 percent.
