Line 3 is critical to safely delivering the energy Minnesotans demand everyday

ST. PAUL, Minn., April 23, 2018 – The Minnesota Petroleum Council issued the following statement after a Minnesota Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) released her recommendations on Line 3’s route permit and the project’s certificate of need to the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC).

“The Line 3 Replacement Project is critical to safely delivering the energy that Minnesotan’s demand every day to fuel our state’s economy,” said Minnesota Petroleum Council Executive Director Erin Roth. “This important pipeline infrastructure project has gone through over three and a half years of a robust, open and transparent process aimed at advancing safety wherever possible to protect communities and our industry’s workforce and the environment.”

“Recommending a certificate of need by the ALJ is an important step in advancing the Line 3 pipeline project.” Roth added. “We look forward to working with the PUC to continue discussions to ensure that the Midwest and Minnesota refiners have an undisrupted supply of crude oil from Line 3 that enables Minnesota’s economy to flourish.”
