WASHINGTON, April 9, 2019 – Today API President and CEO Mike Sommers addressed members of the North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) at their annual legislative conference. Sommers highlighted the important role the labor workforce plays in continuing America’s energy renaissance.

“The natural gas and oil industry relies on skilled workers and the building trades unions to keep energy construction projects safe and on-schedule,” said Sommers. "Thirty two percent of today’s construction industry workforce is employed on energy projects. Together, we ensure that affordable and reliable energy reaches U.S. consumers when they need it and provide job opportunities in our communities – which in turn strengthens local and national economies.

“Our continued partnership with labor from our Pipeline Construction Safety Training  Program to the building of API’s new DC headquarters, provide good paying jobs for the men and women of the building trades to support their families. We are proud of this partnership and we look forward to working and build together for many years to come.”

API represents all segments of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Our more than 600 members produce, process and distribute most of the nation’s energy.
