WASHINGTON, D.C., May 17, 2019—API released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives released the Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2020, providing record funding for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

"API comments the 116th Congress for today's releaseof the FY2020 appropriations bill which would fully funding the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who are entrusted with improving and maintaining America's seaports that are vital to global commerce. Dedicating federal resources for critical infrastructure improvements by the Corps will bring our nation's harbors to their authorized depths and widths, so they can continue to serve as integral gateways to the global marketplace and deliver benefits to every American family and business. America's ports and waterways support the movement of 2.3 billion tons of products each year, of which petroleum products make up 40 percent. Manufactured goods made with natural gas and oil, as well as food, farm products and other raw materials rely every day on the safety and modernization of America's seaports. We encourage the bill's timely approval so the Corps can continue the important work of investing in America's future," said API Vice President of Midstream and Industry Operations Robin Rorick.

API represents all segments of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Our more than 600 members produce, process and distribute most of the nation’s energy. The industry supports more than ten million U.S. jobs and is backed by a growing grassroots movement of millions of Americans. API was formed in 1919 as a standards-setting organization.
