Course Highlights:

Learn how to conduct effective audits and lead an audit team. This three-day course is an add on to the three-day Fundamentals of Auditing course. By attending the third day, you will be given additional information on leading an audit team as well as the additional auditing processes that are unique to the API program. Upon successful completion of this course, you will know how to:

  • Apply the principles, procedures and techniques of planning and conducting effective audits
  • Manage the audit process from planning to reporting to closing out nonconformities
  • Lead and direct an audit team from assigning audit tasks, communicating with team members, coordinating the audit to taking responsibility of the audit output (report and nonconformities)
  • Demonstrate personal attributes and skills expected from lead auditors, including handling conflicts within the audit team

  • Define key auditing concepts, ethics, and standards used in the auditing process
  • Demonstrate how to develop an audit program
  • Understand how to conduct an effective audit

About the Instructor:

Bud Weightman is an international management consultant involved with management and technical systems for over 30 years. As President of QSI, Bud is involved with the industry committees responsible for emerging requirements, including: revision of API Spec. Q1 from the 8th Edition to the 9th Edition; creation of API Spec. Q2; the API Task Group for welding; harmonization of API product specification requirements; and lead auditor for the accreditation of SEMS Audit Providers through the Center for Offshore Safety. Bud’s experience includes working with the ISO 9000, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18000 management systems, and with industry-specific certification schemes such as API Q1, AS9100, and ASME systems, to name a few.
