Communications Advisor (Writer) - Media Relations

 
 

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding writing/editing skills with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Considerable knowledge of policy issues, Congress, the Executive Branch and political debate
  • Talent for distilling complex issues into understandable, relevant messages
  • Ability to work on a variety of topics under tight deadlines
  • Ability to provide informed media counsel
  • Minimum of five years communications or media experience
  • Oil and natural gas experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications

Essential Functions:

  • Draft speeches, commentaries, letters to the editor and other advocacy materials for CEO and others
  • Develop supporting written materials for presentations, fact sheets, brochures, news releases
  • Provide strategic counsel for communicating with the public and with policy makers
  • Respond to media inquiries and conduct media outreach
  • Assist in preparing spokespeople for interviews and appearances
  • Provide media relations counsel to senior staff and executives
  • Effectively interact with staff throughout the organization to develop media relations strategies and approaches to help meet communications objectives
