Devon Energy Wins National Award for Corporate Citizenship

Devon Energy Corporation's strong record of community outreach, safety and environmental stewardship resulted in national recognition for citizenship within the energy industry. Oil and Gas Investor named Devon the year's "Best Corporate Citizen" as part of the publication's annual Excellence Awards announced in the magazine's March 2005 issue.

The citizenship award recognizes Devon's role as a goodwill ambassador and for its environmental, health and safety record across all of its operations in North America, especially in the highly populated areas around the Barnett Shale adjacent to Fort Worth, Texas. The company holds more than a half million acres of land in the Barnett Shale, and it produces from more than 1,900 wells. Because of Devon's size in the region, community involvement is a high priority.

Devon's community outreach program is not limited to operations in the Barnett Shale. The company's efforts span operations throughout North America, from the Rocky Mountains of Montana and Wyoming to the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana.
