The Nature Conservancy Alaska

ConocoPhillips is a long-time supporter of the Nature Conservancy and recently donated $1 million to the Nature Conservancy of Alaska, making the largest corporate gift to conservation in Alaska's history. The donation brought the Conservancy halfway to its fund-raising goal for a statewide conservation planning effort. Called "Great Places in a Great Land," the effort aims to identify lands throughout Alaska that deserve protection and find strategies to implement protective measures.

The Conservancy will use the funds to buy and protect critical habitat from willing sellers and for cooperative efforts with Alaska communities to build economies that don't harm the land. Some funds also will pay for the planning efforts to identify critical lands.
