ChevronTexaco Asia/Middle East/Africa (AMEA) Products Operating Company and the Caltex brand make sustainable contributions to Singapore through charitable giving, providing services and sponsoring events that underscore the ChevronTexaco vision “to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership, and performance.
Recent community support efforts include the School Pocket Money Fund, which helps 5,000 needy children pay for school expenses such as food, books, and transport. Administered by the National Council of Social Services, the fund is distributed to 25 family service centers that provide financial and emotional support to families in need. To date, the Fund has helped more than 3,000 families. In 2000, Caltex donated S*$30,000 and, since then, has sponsored a series of fundraising activities – including a “Golfers with a Heart” charity event. The company is committed to raising some S$50,000 for the fund.
Sasha’s Asia’s Premier Teddy Bear Picnic and Fair 2001
More than 40,000 disadvantaged children in Singapore got closer to reaching their full potential through the sale of Caltex Charity Bears at branded service stations. As part of its sponsorship of Sasha’s Asia’s Premier Teddy Bear Picnic and Fair 2001 – which attracted 10,000 Singaporeans from all walks of life – Caltex sold the bears at service stations throughout Singapore. Monies raised went directly to the Children’s Charities Association to provide education, training, and emotional support.
School Pocket Money Fund
Some 5,000 children from low-income families get help with school expenses such as food, books, and transport through the School Pocket Money Fund. Administered by the National Council of Social Service, the fund is distributed to 25 family service centers that provide financial help and emotional support for needy families. In 2000, the Caltex brand supported the fund with a S$30,000 donation. More than 3,000 families have been helped by the events, which include a “Golfers with a Heart” tournament, a charity car wash, and fundraisers for staff and corporate partners. Caltex raised almost S$170,000 for the pocket money fund in 2002.
