Under the banner of its Volunteer Energy Program, Petro-Canada has created initiatives that recognize the value of employee and retiree volunteerism and encourage involvement. In 2001, the Volunteer Grant Program issued grants to 338 employees and retirees who contributed more than four hours per month of their own time to a non-profit organization. A cheque in the amount of $500 is presented to the non-profit organization by the Petro-Canada volunteer. Since its inception in 1992, the program has invested more than $717 000 in employee volunteer grants.
This program was created to support the efforts of Petro-Canada employees and retirees and recognizes their personal choices to be involved in their communities. Petro-Canada also actively encourages employees to serve on volunteer boards and committees and to represent the company at a wide variety of charity events throughout the year.
