WASHINGTON, April 22, 2010 – API presented environmental and safety awards yesterday to several U.S. pipeline companies at its 61st Annual Pipeline Conference in New Orleans.
CITGO Pipeline Company, Genesis Energy, Inc. and Western Refining Pipeline Company received API’s Occupational Safety Performance Award for the small operator category. ExxonMobil Pipeline Company received the award for the large operator category. Portland Pipe Line Corporation and Alyeska Pipeline Service Company took API’s Environmental Performance Award in the small and large operator categories, respectively.
The Occupational Safety Award is presented to companies with lowest OSHA recordable incidents for employees and contractors. The Environmental Performance Award is presented to companies with a track record of stellar environmental performance. Portland and Alyeska were honored with the Environmental Performance Award for the second year in a row.
Additionally, CITGO Pipeline and Genesis Energy were recognized in the small operator category with certificates for occupational safety performance for the lowest total vehicle accident rate. Colonial Pipeline Company received a similar certificate for the large operator category. In total, 12 companies received certificates of recognition for Occupational Safety Performance.
