EPA Letter to API Regarding Legality of E15

The EPA sent a letter to various groups, including API, answering a frequently asked question on whether E15 is currently legal to sell for 2001 model year and newer cars and trucks. In short, the EPA said that E15 is not a legal fuel at this point. According to the EPA, several conditions of its waivers decision to allow 15 percent ethanol in fuel have not been met and therefore the fuel is not legal to sell. The conditions yet to be met include pump labeling requirements, product transfer documents, and retail fuel compliance requirements.
