To receive the protocols*, begin by submitting the form linked below.

The following is the list of the process safety areas that are assessed by the use of each protocol:

  • Process Safety Leadership
  • Management of Change
  • Mechanical Integrity (focused on fixed equipment)
  • Safe Work Practices
  • Operating Practices
  • Facility Siting
  • Process Hazards Analysis
  • HF Alkylation/API RP 751

Note: The Process Safety Site Assessments ARE NOT intended to be compliance audits (with the exception of the HF alkylation/API RP 751 protocol)

To request the protocols, use one of the following methods:

Industry-recognized Site Assessments are only those organized and directed through the Process Safety Site Assessment Program managed by API.

The Process Safety Site Assessment Protocols are not intended to:

  • replace or be interpreted as industry standards or recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices;
  • provide a definitive, required, and/or prioritized list of site requirements;
  • provide a detailed review of OSHA PSM requirements; or replace sound engineering judgment of each site on the appropriate steps it should take to ensure safe operation.

API Global Industry Services does not assume any liability for how the information is implemented and/or used and each site is responsible for ensuring that its own standards, practices, and procedures comply with all applicable requirements and are appropriately suited for the site specific operating environment.

You expressly acknowledge and agree that the information contained in the protocols is being provided on an "as-is" basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation any warranty regarding the accuracy or content of the information.

You further understand and agree that use of any and all information contained in the protocols is at your own sole risk.

You understand that the protocols are the copyrighted property of API and cannot be altered, revised, incorporated into other works, or sold by you or any other party without the prior written approval of API.

You release API, its members, and its employees, from any claims and damages you may have from accessing, using the information contained herein, and you agree to defend and indemnify API, its members, and its employees, for any claims and/or damages that arise directly or indirectly from your use of the protocols and guidance documents or the information contained therein.
