Software Products Source Code

New software development helps companies collect data, aggregate it electronically, and compile better statistics on their operations. Examples of recent software development include:

SANGEA Software

SANGEA is an emissions estimation software based on the API compendium of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimation methodologies of the oil and gas industry. SANGEA is designed to allow consistent GHG reporting with the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA), International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) and API. SANGEA provides a reliable, efficient, cost effective, comparable method for reporting GHG emissions that can be used by oil and gas companies anywhere in the world. Safety Performance Indicator

API has been tasked by the Safety & Fire Protection Subcommittee to create a new system to measure the effectiveness of workplace safety in a consistent manner throughout the petroleum industry. This is an effort to develop guidance to measure the effectiveness of a company's overall safety programs by establishing a set of metrics that will help monitor trends that can lead to improvements in the program. Our goal is zero safety incidents in the petroleum industry. The Statistical Services group will create a client-based software that will maintain all safety incidents data and metrics; and provide support tools to report leading and lagging indicators to assist in the prevention of future incidents. API Chapter 11.1, Volume Correction Factors

API has joined forces with Flow-Cal Inc. to develop, market, and support the Chapter 11.1 Code (Temperature and Pressure Volume Correction Factors for Generalized Crude Oils, Refined Products, Special Applications, and Lubricating Oils). This information is available in equations relating volume to pressure which contains physical data that has direct application to volumetric measurements of liquid hydrocarbon.  Visit the Flow-Cal Inc. web site.

Pipeline Performance Tracking System (PPTS)

This is an effort by the Pipeline segment to collect very detailed information about every pipeline incident since 1999. The Statistical Services group created a client-based software that is dynamically linked to API through the Internet to collect the data. The Statistical Services group maintains the software and handles technical support for the effort. Contact Hazem Arafa at arafa@api.org.

Survey on Petroleum Industry Occupational Injuries, Illnesses, and Fatalities (OII)

The Statistical Services group also created the online survey and database needed for the data collection in this effort. Companies can enter their safety data and can benchmark their operations – by sector and for selected companies – in real time. Access to the OII web site is restricted to participants.
