API is pleased to announce that by December 31, 2013, the API Training Provider Certification Program (TPCP) will be merged with API-U (API’s training program) and will no longer function as a stand-alone program. API is confident that by bringing TPCP under the API-U brand, a stronger program will emerge.
As a member of API-U, training providers will enjoy the benefits of the API-U brand. This includes having course dates listed on the API-U calendar, being advertised on the daily API SmartBrief, the ability to post the API-U logo on your website, and the use of the API-U course certificate of completion.
The API-U program is undergoing two significant changes that will take effect January 1, 2014. First, due to a conflict of interest, API-U will stop accepting applications or offering Individual Certification Program (ICP) exam prep-courses. Second, API-U will no longer be accepting API Spec Q1, API Spec Q2, API Spec 6A, API Spec 6D/6DSS or Lead Auditor 19011 courses. These courses offered by API-U will be API-U owned training courses that will be licensed to qualified providers for a royalty fee.
While API-U applications are available and being accepted, API-U audits will not be scheduled until November 2013.
