Scott Garten is the Vice President of Product Management in the Global Industry Services division of the American Petroleum Institute. In this role he oversees API’s Monogram/APIQR, EOLCS, ICP and Training programs. Scott started at API as the Director of Intellectual Property & Distribution where he managed the global distribution and copyright enforcement of API’s portfolio of intellectual property – including API standards and statistics reports. There he worked with industry leaders to grow API standards sales globally, develop new revenue streams, and deploy technologies to increase efficiencies and position GIS to meet future market demands. In addition, Scott worked with API’s DEI integrated team to spearhead the establishment of API’s Minority Serving Institutions initiative which provides free access to API’s online standards library and internships to students at qualified colleges and universities.

Before joining API, Scott spent over 11 years in various business development and sales leadership roles at IHS Markit (now an S&P Global business) and Thomson Reuters. Previously, he worked as an attorney with the American Foreign Service Association where he represented U.S. State Department diplomats. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Xavier University, a Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, and a Master of Business Administration from Georgetown University.

Scott lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and three children.
