U.S. energy should empower American progress, not partisanship.

The American Petroleum Institute has released a new video ahead of tonight’s Democratic presidential debate that features current and former elected leaders touting natural gas and oil in their own words.

Democrats like President Barack Obama – who received a 97% favorability rating in 2018 among self-identified Democrats – understood that fostering the U.S. natural gas and oil industry can lower energy bills and reduce emissions.

America’s energy revolution, and the U.S.’ goal of ‘energy independence’ have been decades in the making as Americans and political leaders of both parties have long recognized the value of having a secure, domestic source of natural gas and oil. Our industry provides reliable, affordable, and cleaner energy that Americans of all walks of life depend on daily.

API represents all segments of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Our more than 600 members produce, process and distribute most of the nation’s energy. The industry supports more than ten million U.S. jobs and is backed by a growing grassroots movement of millions of Americans. API was formed in 1919 as a standards-setting organization. In our first 100 years, API has developed more than 700 standards to enhance operational and environmental safety, efficiency and sustainability.
