American energy companies are continuously looking for new talent to fill entry-level industry jobs. The American Petroleum Institute (API) is committed to preparing the next generation of natural gas and oil industry workers for a rewarding career in this evolving industry. SkillsReady provides qualified and accepted candidates free admission to a 5-month course that provides students with a comprehensive background to join any segment (upstream, offshore, midstream, downstream) of the natural gas and oil industry. Upon completion of the course, graduates will obtain a certificate endorsing their knowledge of industry operations and preparing them to apply for entry-level positions in the energy sector. Graduates are uniquely positioned to enter training program run by major natural gas and oil organizations. This program was designed and is supported by several leading energy companies including Chevron, ExxonMobil, Hess, Fluor Corporation and Parker Wellbore.
Delivery Method: The curriculum will include both online (e-learning modules) and live lectures (held in person at San Jacinto Community College, Pasadena, TX)

The curriculum will focus on providing baseline industry knowledge and skills-based education to prepare participants for entry-level operational roles in the industry. These courses provide an overview of the natural gas and oil supply chain, inclusive of hydrocarbon basics, segment operations, and an understanding of basic facility operations. The curriculum will cover safety procedures and concepts, critical equipment utilized at facilities, and general operational processes that are applicable to all industry segments.
