Rodney Sampson

Rodney Sampson is Vice President and Chief Information Officer. In this role he provides the vision and leadership to advance the API mission through the cost efficient and secure use of Information Technology (IT).

Rodney brings over 35 years of knowledge and career experience in defining and driving business success through the efficient and cost-effective planning, implementation, and application of Information Technology and data. Prior to API, Rodney spent 9 years at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) as the Chief Technology Officer, where he provided systems strategy and support for donor acquisition and scientific research, IT governance, enterprise systems operations, data security, and cloud migration. Before ADA, Rodney held IT leadership positions in various telecommunications companies and was a consultant to the Department of Defense. His areas of responsibility included: telecommunications industry standards development, advocacy, IT strategic planning and governance, operations support systems and infrastructure, software development, cyber security, and economic analysis.

Rodney served as a Captain in U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserves. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and the George Washington University. Rodney lives in Virginia with his wife.
