Petroleum Measurement

API’s suite of measurement training courses, developed in collaboration with YPF Argentina, introduces the learner to API’s Manual of Petroleum and Measurement Standards and provides the learner with the knowledge to establish technical baseline calculations for custody transfer, loss control and environmental measurement activities. These measurement practices impact safety and the fundamental marketing of products produced, handled and sold to third parties.

Courses include:

Dynamic Measurements

This self-paced course is organized into four modules that will explain the different types of measurement devices, how to select them based on the fluid that will be transported and how to calibrate them

Static Measurements

This self-paced course is organized into four modules that will explain tank calibration, manual measurement methods, telemetering systems and quantity calculations.

Quality Control

This self-paced course is organized into two modules that will explain the basic concepts of oil quality and the sampling process.

Controlling Quantities

This self-paced course is organized in two modules that will explain the measurement and calibration reports and will also cover what product balance means and its associated tolerances.

Legal Framework and Standards

This self-paced course is organized in three modules that will explain the role and importance of standardization, what are the applicable norms and what is the legal framework of the oil industry as a whole.

Measurements on Vessels

This self-paced course is organized in three modules that will explain the fundamentals of maritime transport as well as its calculations of quantities and the calibration and correction factors that are applicable.
