API’s Global Industry Services (GIS) division promotes safety, environmental protection, and sustainability across the natural gas and oil industry, globally.

GIS is responsible for standards setting, certification, training, events, publications, and safety programs for industry operations. GIS works with leading industry subject-matter experts to develop and maintain more than 800 Standards and Recommended Practices for the natural gas and oil industry that drive safety, environmental protection, and sustainability across industry operations.

Standards

Process Safety Assessments (PSSAP)

API Witnessing Program

Center for Offshore Safety (COS)

The Center for Offshore Safety (COS) provides tools, peer learning opportunities, good practices and support for companies on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf. Through Safety and Environmental Management Systems, COS helps the industry meet its safety and sustainability objectives, while enabling the industry to remain a foundational part of our nation’s economy.


Individual Certifications & Training

Individual Certifications Programs (ICP)

ICP provides the petroleum and petrochemical industries with an independent and unbiased way to evaluate the knowledge and experience of technical and inspection personnel.

Quality Certifications

API Monogram and APIQR

Products with the Monogram mark meet API quality, interchangeability, and reliability standards.

API’s Quality Registrar Program (APIQR) allows companies to register their management systems to API Q1, Q2, 18LCM and ISO.


Engine Oil (EOLCS)

API EOLCS is a voluntary licensing and certification program that authorizes engine oil marketers that meet specified requirements to use the API Engine Oil Marks. Contact: EOLCS@api.org

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

The API Diesel Exhaust Fluid Certification Program is a voluntary program designed to certify and monitor the quality characteristics of diesel exhaust fluid and marine diesel exhaust fluid. Contact: APIDEF@api.org

Motor Oil Matters (MOM)

The MOM mark helps customers identify distributors and oil change locations committed to providing motor oil meeting the performance standard recommended by most vehicle and engine manufacturers. Contact: MotorOilMatters@api.org
