Amanda Eversole Named API EVP and Chief Advocacy Officer

Senior Advisor Shannon DiBari named Senior Vice President, Business, Operations and Strategy

WASHINGTON, June 9, 2022 – American Petroleum Institute (API) President and CEO Mike Sommers today named Amanda Eversole as Executive Vice President and Chief Advocacy Officer, where she will lead the organization’s integrated advocacy efforts across the federal government relations, state government relations, and external mobilization departments.

“Amanda has been an incredible advocate for our industry and an indispensable partner for me since she came to API nearly four years ago,” said Sommers. “Her strategic insight, coupled with her ability to build relationships and deliver results on behalf of our member companies, is well-established, and I’m delighted that Amanda has agreed to step into this expanded role.”

During her time as API’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Eversole led the development of API’s strategic plan and the formation of its Principles; oversaw membership during historic changes within the industry; revitalized and streamlined API’s business operations; and accelerated critical diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across our industry and at API.

Eversole joined API in 2018 as Chief Operating Officer from JPMorgan Chase where she led the Public Affairs team. Previously she held a variety of senior positions at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Sommers also announced that Senior Advisor Shannon DiBari has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Business, Operations and Strategy, overseeing API’s day-to-day business operations.

Since joining API as Senior Advisor in 2018, DiBari has worked across all of API’s operational channels, enhancing employee engagement across the organization and serving as a key strategic partner to API leadership. Prior to joining API, DiBari served as Executive Vice President and COO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
