API Highlights America’s Energy Opportunity Ahead of Joint Session of Congress

New TV and digital ad campaign underscores how U.S. energy production benefits all Americans

WASHINGTON, March 3, 2025 – Ahead of President Trump’s joint address to Congress, American Petroleum Institute President and CEO Mike Sommers commended the administration for taking steps to unleash U.S. oil and natural gas resources and outlined policy solutions to secure the nation’s energy future. API also released a new TV and digital ad campaign highlighting how U.S. oil and natural gas production benefits all Americans and supports local communities.

“President Trump won on a pro-energy agenda, and his administration has moved swiftly to unleash our nation’s vast oil and natural gas resources. From lifting the LNG pause and taking steps to restore consumer choice to directing his administration to open leasing—it’s clear that it’s a new day for American energy. With rising demand driven by surging electricity use and new data centers, the Trump administration and Congress have an opportunity to build on this momentum through our five-point policy roadmap. We will continue to work with policymakers to advance durable permitting reform, process LNG permits, legislate regular lease sales and preserve a pro-investment tax landscape.”
