Frank Komin is president and general manager of Oxy of Long Beach (Calif.), which operates the THUMS oil and natural gas facility in Long Beach Harbor.
THUMS is made up of four man-made islands, as well as onshore facilities. The islands are uniquely designed not to look like functioning oil and gas production facilities – with rigs and other above-ground equipment camouflaged and sound-proofed to maintain harbor ambiance. In this video, Frank conducts a mini-tour:
Frank says Oxy’s production facility provides important support for the local and state economy:
“It provides revenues for the city and the state of California, and it’s an excellent source of quality jobs for the local community. We’ve worked hard over the years to become a very, very good neighbor here in Long Beach, and we intend to keep it that way for many years to come.”
Visit American Energy Works.org for more videos and information about the people of the oil and gas industry and how their work provides wide energy and economic benefits locally and across the country.
