Video: Cleaner, Smarter is Top of Mind for Natural Gas & Oil
Posted May 17, 2018
We hope you’ve seen “Brainpower,” API’s new ad highlighting the smart technologies and data analysis that natural gas and oil use to safely and efficiently bring Americans the energy that empowers their modern lives while also meeting seemingly impossible challenges.
“Brainpower” also is about natural gas and oil deploying technologies and innovating to get cleaner and help the United States reduce its emissions, leading to cleaner air. The women and men of natural gas and oil are focused on this. They want other Americans to know that they care – about lowering emissions and the environment – because they’re members of the community, too. You’ll see it in behind-the-scenes interviews conducted during the “Brainpower” ad shoot:
All of the interviews are terrific. Let’s underline a few:
Shawn Graham, Chevron:
“What I hope people take away is that people who work in our industry are their friends, their neighbors, their cousins, their relatives, and so we’re not a separate group of people. We’re in the community. We’re working on our side to make sure that they breathe as clean air as possible.”
Rachel Ward, Newfield:
“I grew up in rural Wyoming – gorgeous country, beautiful, untouched land. So under no circumstances would I ever or anyone else in the industry want to disrupt that. Our goal is a different goal, and that’s to improve the quality of life.”
Kristen O’Connor, Marathon Oil:
“It’s important to me that we share more about the industry, the knowledge and expertise and drive that it requires, and that we take safety and environmental very seriously.”
Improving the environmental performance of natural gas and oil operations, facilities and products is top of mind for our industry, advanced by our leadership role in investing in renewables and other non-hydrocarbon technologies – detailed in a study released this week.
Kyle Isakower, API vice president of regulatory and economic policy, said the study shows natural gas and oil is focused on meeting Americans’ energy needs well into the future while also leading progress on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Isakower: “[W]e are clearly part of the solution.”
We are, thanks to dedicated professionals who work every day to make our industry and its products better.
