DENVER, June 14, 2019 – This week, the Colorado Petroleum Council is honored to sponsor a number of events across Denver in celebration of Pride Month. The natural gas and oil industry is committed to honoring the LGBTQ employees in the energy industry as an important piece of the broader effort to achieve a fully equal and inclusive society in Colorado and beyond.

On Monday, CPC, One Colorado and the LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce united to celebrate the fourth annual Pride in Energy luncheon. This year’s event, hosted by Tracks Nightclub, honored the LGBTQ community’s achievements in the natural gas and oil industry while discussing ways in which industry can continue to play a leading role in growing and fostering equality and inclusion within its workforce. CPC members, community leaders, and local Coloradans came together for this important discussion in pursuit of industry equality across Colorado.

“But our commitment goes beyond a single week or a single month. We want Colorado’s LGBTQ community to know that we are and will continue to be a steadfast ally and partner in the years and months to come. Our participation in these events is just a small piece of a long-term commitment we have made, and we look forward to honoring that commitment each and every day.”

“We are proud to partner with One Colorado and the LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce in a shared commitment to honor equality and inclusion in the natural gas and oil industry,” said Lynn Granger, executive director of the Colorado Petroleum Council. “Our annual Pride in Energy luncheon highlights not only the progress we have made on that commitment, but also the work that lies ahead to continually improve.”

On Saturday, the Colorado Petroleum Council will sponsor One Colorado’s 14th annual Pink Party, also hosted by Tracks Nightclub. And on Sunday morning, CPC will join a number of its member companies and their employees in marching in the Coors Light Denver Pride Parade.

“Our industry is equally excited to sponsor Saturday’s Pink Party and culminate a fantastic week of celebration by marching in Sunday’s Denver Pride Parade,” continued Granger.

The relationship between the Colorado Petroleum Council, One Colorado and the LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce seeks to advance the mission of equal opportunity for all Coloradans. In addition, the Colorado Petroleum Council and its member companies have worked to play a leading role in advancing this mission though employment opportunities and community outreach. The relationship between these organizations has drawn closer each year that they have come together.

“As Colorado celebrates Pride Month, we proudly reflect on the tremendous strides made by the LGBTQ community and its allies toward a more equal state, though we recognize that there is still so much to be done,” said Daniel Ramos, Executive Director of One Colorado. “We appreciate the energy industry continuing to take proactive steps in pursuit of a truly just, equitable landscape, and look forward to partnering with them for years to come.”
