Governance

The natural gas and oil industry is committed to transparent operations and business activities, which are critical to continued success in the U.S. and global marketplaces. Through a unified approach to industry reporting – and a shared commitment to delivering value to all stakeholders – the sector is accelerating social and environmental progress, while preparing for the world’s energy future.

Industry-Led Reporting

Corporate sustainability reporting plays a critical role in helping stakeholders understand a dynamic industry such as natural gas and oil, including opportunities for energy development. Communicating accurate, complete and consistent information related to management practices, emissions guidelines and community partnerships, companies can inform and engage stakeholders while strengthening relationships with the financial sector.

For over 15 years, API and its international partners, IPIECA and IOGP, have produced “Sustainability Reporting Guidance for the Oil and Gas Industry,” which provides a sector-wide framework for assessing environmental, social and governance issues. Capitalizing on shared experiences over decades of managing these issues, this guidance helps individual companies highlight their activities in a clear, comprehensive format.
